The Niskanen Center is excited to be a host organization with Google in its 2017 North America Public Policy Fellowship this summer.

The technology department’s issue portfolio is robust and constantly growing, focusing on cutting-edge, emerging technologies and the many legal and regulatory concerns associated with them. Some of the policy issues we focus on include:

  • Artificial intelligence
  • Autonomous vehicles
  • Commercial drones and airspace innovation
  • The Internet of Things
  • Commercial space policy
  • Encryption and cybersecurity
  • Robotics and automation
  • Copyright and Intellectual Property
  • Privacy, online civil liberties, and surveillance reform

Duties include research, writing, and publishing on these issues, as well as direct engagement with legislative staff, regulators, and coalition partners. The fellow will work directly with the technology department’s director on the issue(s) he or she is most interested in pursuing.
