Washington, D.C.– December 1, 2015. The Niskanen Center, a libertarian advocacy organization, is announcing today the launch of its new Center for Climate Science under the direction of Dr. Joseph Majkut. The new Center aims to critically examine arguments made by climate skeptics. Climate scientists Dr. Thomas Cropper and Dr. Sarah E. Myhre will be joining the Center as adjunct fellows.

“We are thrilled to be launching the Center for Climate Science, and look forward to watching it flourish under Dr. Majkut’s leadership,” said the Niskanen Center’s president Jerry Taylor. “Under his direction and with the help of our distinguished new adjunct fellows, we hope to better inform the climate debate on the Right.”

Dr. Majkut was most recently a congressional science fellow in the Office of Senator Whitehouse, a fellowship sponsored by the American Geoscience Institute and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Dr. Majkut holds a PhD in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences from Princeton University and a Master of Science in Environmental Risk Analysis and Applied Mathematics from the Technical University of Delft, the Netherlands.

Dr. Myhre is an ocean and climate scientist, and a postdoctoral scholar at the Future of Ice Initiative at the University of Washington. Dr. Cropper is an independent climate scientist, currently based in Sheffield, UK.

The Niskanen Center is a libertarian 501(c)(3) advocacy organization that was established in 2014 that works to change public policy through direct engagement in the policymaking process.
