WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Niskanen Center applauds Representatives Maria Salazar (R-FL) and Veronica Escobar (D-TX) for reintroducing the bipartisan Dignity Act in the 119th Congress.

The refreshed bill combines key border and employment enforcement policies with long-overdue protections for law-abiding, hardworking undocumented immigrants. It also introduces innovative visa reforms that would strengthen the U.S. economy, reduce the national debt, and invest in training for American workers.

“After Congress approved the largest increase in border and enforcement spending in history, passing the Dignity Act is the logical next step to restore order, modernize our legal immigration system, and spur economic growth,” said Kristie De Peña, senior vice president of policy at the Niskanen Center. “Representatives Salazar and Escobar have shown commendable leadership in their willingness to work across the aisle.”

“With the border secured, we must now address issues from asylum to employment verification and relief for Dreamers,” added Lindsey Warburton, Niskanen’s government affairs manager for immigration. “We urge bipartisan, bicameral support for the Dignity Act and stand ready to help move it forward.”

The Niskanen Center is a 501(c)(3) advocacy organization established in 2014 to change public policy through direct engagement in the policymaking process.
