Niskanen Center’s Legal Department uses administrative advocacy, open records work, statutory drafting and review, and strategic litigation to help drive meaningful policy change across Niskanen’s portfolio. We aim to strengthen legal frameworks that promote market vitality and government accountability, with a focus on perverse economic incentives and limiting regulatory capture. Toward that goal, our work seeks to advance competitive energy markets and modern transmission infrastructure; protect functional and lawful immigration pathways; expand health care affordability and housing supply; improve the administration of social insurance programs; and to support institutional renewal through transparency and oversight.
