Michael Petrucelli served as the first-ever Deputy Director and then Acting Director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) during the George W. Bush administration. Petrucelli’s government career also includes service as a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State, with postings in Bangkok and the Netherlands Antilles, and as Senior Vice President for Operations and Chief of Staff at the Export-Import Bank of the United States. He also worked on economic and business issues at the Federal Communications Commission and is the inventor of record on a U.S. patent related to automating the immigration application process. Petrucelli holds a master’s degree in business administration from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Trinity College. He is a member of the Advisory Council for the Niskanen Center State Capacity USCIS Project.
