Sarah Iskander

Sarah Iskander brings experience across federal budgeting, emerging technology, and international stakeholder engagement. As the Government Affairs Manager for Climate and Energy at the Niskanen Center, she leads congressional, federal, and stakeholder engagement on transmission expansion, permitting reform, grid resilience, and competitive energy markets.

Before joining Niskanen, Iskander served as a congressional liaison at the U.S. Department of Energy, working with Congress’s appropriations committees across a $12.5 billion portfolio. She previously led global government relations and stakeholder engagement for Virgin Hyperloop, a transportation technology company developing zero-emission, high-speed ground transit.

Iskander earned a master’s degree in science, technology, and international affairs from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and a bachelor’s degree in Arabic studies and international development from the University of Maryland. She is a former Presidential Management Fellow and Boren Scholar.
