Louisa Tavlas
Louisa Tavlas is the Vice President of Communications at the Niskanen Center, where she leads the organization’s strategic communications, media relations, and digital engagement. She works across policy teams to develop impactful messaging, cultivate high-impact media partnerships, and translate Niskanen’s vision into influence in Washington and beyond.
Tavlas brings over 15 years of experience at the intersection of communications, journalism, and public policy. Before joining Niskanen, she was a communications strategist at CRAFT Media/Digital, designing and managing campaigns for Fortune 500 companies, trade associations, and nonprofits. She previously served on the media team at the Cato Institute, supporting national press outreach and op-ed placement.
Earlier in her career, Tavlas worked as a journalist covering the pharmaceutical and personal care industries, and held reporting and editorial internships with the Associated Press in Athens and the Athens News, Greece’s only English-language daily at the time.
She holds a B.A. in English Literature from the University of Virginia and an M.S. in Communications from Drexel University.
