WASHINGTON, D.C., February 8, 2022 — The Niskanen Center applauds Representative Maria Salazar’s (R-FL-27) introduction of the ‘‘Dignity for Immigrants while Guarding our Nation to Ignite and Deliver the American Dream Act’’ or the DIGNIDAD (Dignity) Act.

The Dignity Act provides for innovative, compassionate, and thoughtful solutions to legalize the undocumented population and Dreamers; enhance security technology and infrastructure; improve our capacity to process asylum seekers in a timely and humane manner; and reinvigorate the American workforce and economy.

“For the first time in a very long time, we have a bill that prioritizes the needs of immigrants and Americans alike. It also earnestly addresses the concerns that both Republicans and Democrats have on so many divisive issues,” said Kristie De Peña, Niskanen’s Vice President of Policy.

She added, “We are excited to support this effort and are optimistic that it will open the door to sincere, bipartisan collaboration to get these reforms past the finish line.”

The Niskanen Center is a 501(c)(3) advocacy organization established in 2014 to change public policy through direct engagement in the policymaking process.
