Donald Trump called today “for a total complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States.” With this proposal, the presidential candidate aligns himself with the Islamic State, which has repeatedly called Syrian refugees “apostates” and traitors to its totalitarian regime. The Islamic State has said that its attacks on the West are specifically intended to turn the West against peaceful Muslims, and drive them back to its so-called caliphate. Now Donald Trump would have the U.S. government join forces with ISIS to achieve the goals of this terrorist organization.
One need not be a member of the long list of foreign policy experts who sent a letter to President Obama last week urging him to continue to accept Syrians to see this idea for what it is: the worst possible foreign policy proposal yet.
